Alchemy is a true destination just minutes east of Scottsdale off Shea and Palisades in Fountain Hills.  Alchemy brings your Jazz in the Hills experience to a new altitude…   “Jazz in the Hills” is now literally in the hills. On the summit of our highest hill you will enjoy the very best views with a backdrop overlooking the lights of Fountain Hills, the famous fountain and beyond to Four Peaks.

Chef Paul provides unparalleled and inspired culinary artistry paired with a great wine cellar, coffee and refreshments.    The dining room features floor to ceiling windows opened to stunning views.  Come early to enjoy a magnificent dinner before strolling to one of the several locations on the property for our unforgettable Jazz performances.  We’ll have a variety of seating and the folks at Alchemy will  wow you with their service.

Weather permitting, concerts will be presented on the Patio or Lawn area.  During ” weather extremes” , such as they are in Arizona,  concerts will be held indoors at the Wine Bar.   Alchemy provides adequate and comfortable seating to accommodate all of our guests.   The lawn, patio and wine bar areas offer a special “small plates” menu and amazing deserts to tantalize your senses of taste and smell during the concerts.

The main dining room is separate from the performance area.

Board of Directors

Jazz in the Hills announces Board of Directors
Jazz in the Hills is now governed by a Board of Directors who have volunteered to 2-year terms. The organization was previously guided by a wonderful group of community volunteers.

The objectives of the Board are to develop vision, planning and direction for

  • concerts
  • education and scholarships
  • community outreach
  • fundraising
  • special musical events in the community of Fountain Hills Arizona

Jazz in the Hills is a 501(c)(3) umbrella organization of Fountain Hills Theater.

Richard Tews was appointed Executive Director. Rich’s business provides aerospace and manufacturing systems and software development services. Rich brings his family, good humor, organizational skills and intense passion for music to Jazz in the Hills. Prior to his business career he studied Music and played in the ASU Jazz Band. He also serves on the board of National Defense Industrial Association and serves as a Mentor at InnovateVMS.

Armand Boatman was appointed Musical Director. Armand earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano and Music Education and is universally respected as one of the finest musicians in the Valley. For over 38 years Armand performed with dozens of show-business stars in Phoenix. His involvement in Jazz in the Hills as a performer and booking agent for the organization now spans over a decade. Armand’s enduring commitment to further music education, performance and opportunity for young players has made him an invaluable addition to the Jazz in the Hills organization.

Susan Harding volunteered as Board VP and Director. Susan is an award winning Watercolor Artist and former VP of the Fountain Hills Art League. Susan has been the primary point person for Jazz in the Hills since its inception over 16 years ago. Susan’s tireless efforts to drive local support enabled the organization to survive venue changes and economic challenges. She has coordinated multiple fundraisers and has been the face and voice of Jazz in the Hills to the community at each concert.

Rose Gibson volunteered as Board Secretary and Director. In 2000, after retiring from 30 years of teaching, Rose and Duane Gibson moved to Fountain Hills. They were excited to find quality Jazz music so close to home each week at Inspiration Coffee House which later became Jazz in the Hills. Rose has been actively involved helping with fund raisers and has also hosted a concert in her home to promote the weekly Jazz concerts. She fell in love with Jazz in college while working summer jobs at Lake Placid and Cape Cod. Rose’s positive energy, enthusiasm and passion for promoting this musical art form make her a perfect fit for the newly created Board.
